Reconfigurability Issues in Multi-/Many-core Systems
címmel.

Abstract

Some of the benefits of reconfigurable systems in conventional computer systems that have been touted in the literature are increased reliability and availability, efficient use of application-specific circuits, ability to work with low energy budgets, ability to achieve high-performance, and the ability to be deployed at various levels of granularity. Reconfigurability is emerging as an integral design goal in multi-/many-core systems. The talk will pose several questions regarding current research and development efforts in reconfigurable systems, among them, "Are reconfigurable systems going to be ubiquitous and, if so, what are we going to do about it?”

Prof. Dr. Bruce Shiver rövid szakmai életrajza

Prof. Shriver received his PhD in Computer Science from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1973. He has published extensively and has lectured throughout the US and abroad in the design and implementation of computer hardware and software systems. In 1990, Shriver was made an IEEE Fellow for his work in Computer Systems Organization and Microprogramming. He was president of the IEEE Computer Society in 1992. He has been the editor-in-chief of Computer and IEEE Software, and on the Board of Directors of both the Computing Research Association and Federation on Computing in the United States. Shriver was a Department Group Manager at IBM's T. J. Watson Research Center, served as Vice-President for Research at the University of Southwestern Louisiana where he also held an Eminent Scholar Chair in Computer Science. He has also held an endowed chair at the University of Hawaii and has been an adjunct professor at a number of Universities, including the University of Aarhus in Denmark, the University of Hong Kong and, currently, the University of Tromsø in Norway. He consults in high-performance computer systems (hardware and software).
